Learn to apply the principles of sterilization and disinfection in the workplace,
as well as the
principles of distribution of instruments and supplies. Explore preparation, storage,
quality assurance,
and inventory management. This course prepares students for the Sterile Processing
and Distribution Technician certification offered by CSPDT. CEU: 9.6
A hybrid course has online instruction. Reliable internet, a computer or laptop are
required for hybrid
courses. Students will need to use Chrome or Firefox web browsers for online instruction.

Highly recommened to take with Medical Terminology A & P. The Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) course will prepare each student
for entry-level positions as a medical billing clerk. All participants will gain knowledge
about the medical billing cycle, revenue cycle management, medical coding, and billing
concepts. Each student will master the concept of medical billing and gain an understanding
of guidelines as they pertain to medical claims processing. This program might be
ideal for an entry-level program. CEU: 11.2

Scholarships Available. The Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) Program is designed for individuals interested
in supporting ophthalmologists and optometrists in a clinical setting without direct
patient care. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills needed to excel in the
fast-paced, detail-oriented world of ophthalmic practice. Upon completion, students
will be well-prepared to pursue certification as a COA, enhancing their career prospects
in the healthcare industry.

Learn key skills needed to become a medical laboratory professional and play a vital role in the healthcare system. CEU: 2.4

Become a Certified Electrocardiogram Technician (EKG) with ASPT. Study the anatomy
and
physiology of the heart, the pulmonary system (lungs), the electrical impulses that
make the heart-
pump and contract, and the segments, waves, and intervals of a 12-lead EKG. Clinical
experience will
teach the placement of electrodes on the body. CEU: 9.6

Medical Administrative Assistants are valuable members of the healthcare team.
Students will learn patient registration, telephone, scheduling, medical records,
accounts receivable,
data entry, and medical claims. This course prepares individuals for the Certified
Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) national certification exam offered by the
National Healthcareer Association (NHA). CEU: 9.6.

Master the math skills you need to succeed in the medical field from calculating dosages to using scientific formulas. Whatever medical field you are in, the hands-on activities in this course will help you perform day-to-day math tasks quickly, easily, and accurately. CEU: 2.4

Highly recommend to take with Electronic Health Records or Certified Medical Billing
and Coding Specialist. Introduction to the study of medical words and terms. Learn basic human anatomy and
physiology for all body systems, laboratory medicine, pharmacology, elements of medical
terms and names of major diseases, including terms used in physical exams, operative
procedures, and diagnosis. CEU: 11.2

Must have high school diploma or GED to take CEHRS exam. Electronic Health Records
(EHR)
are portable records of a patient鈥檚 healthcare experience. Using a variety of EHR
models.
Topics include the historical background of electronic medical records, legal/ethical
principles
inherent to healthcare information, patient flow, scheduling, and call processing
and tasking using
EMR. EHR Specialists focus on the electronic documentation of the patient鈥檚 care and
condition.
Qualifies and prepares students to take the Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist
(CEHRS)
exam through the National Health Career Association (NHA). CEU: 11.2

Become certified as a Community Health Worker (CHW) in NC. This course prepares the
student to sit for the NC Certified Community Health Worker certification exam after
successfully completing the course. CEU: 9.6.

Special Requirements: Approval is needed from Marta Braun-Kane before registering
for this class.
Prepare for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam and entry-level employment.
Topics include technical procedures for preparing and dispensing prescriptions, packaging
and labeling, controlled substance procedures, inventory control, pharmacy calculations,
and over-the-counter drugs. Upon completion, students will be able to perform basic
supervision. This is a hybrid course with online instruction. Reliable internet, a
computer, or a laptop are required for hybrid courses. Students will need to use Chrome
or Firefox web browsers for online instruction. CEU: 11.2

Special Requirements: Approval is needed from Jacklyn Pepich before registering for
this class. Current immunization record must include MMR, Hep B, Varicella, Tdap,
TB skin test, COVID, Flu. Signed memo of understanding.
Learn the skills necessary to draw blood specimens in various healthcare settings
and blood donation centers. Topics include venipuncture, specimen handling, record-keeping,
and the healthcare profession. CEU: 22.0
