Jason Levister has been named to the Director of Workplace Learning at Sandhills Community College, a role responsible for overseeing and expanding workplace learning programs, including,
pre-apprenticeships, apprenticeships, and structured internships. He will align his
work with Apprenticeship NC, a program funded by the state to connect students with employers for successful job experiences and future placements.
This model is a piece of the success toward the growth of business and economic development in North Carolina.
Levister began his community college career at Robeson Community College before joining Sandhills in 2015 as the Continuing Education Registrar. When Sandhills was chosen as a pilot college in 2018 to develop the new Workforce Continuing Education (WCE) Career and College Promise (CCP) pathways, Jason began serving as Director of the WCE CCP program. He led WCE CCP's significant growth
in partnerships, pathways, and enrollment. Over the last year, he has been working
on growing the College's apprenticeship program and is now stepping into that role full-time.
"Jason stepping into this role full-time is a tremendous milestone for Sandhills Community College. Having his leadership, skills, and service 100% dedicated to apprenticeships, pre-apprenticeships, and internships will allow us to deepen employer partnerships and create even more sustainable workforce opportunities
for our students. There is truly no better person to champion this work than Jason, and I am excited to see the impact he will continue to make for our college and community," Taylor McCaskill, Senior Director of Workforce Development and Corporate Partnerships
at Sandhills Community College, said
Levister said he looks forward to cultivating new relationships with the employers in the local and surrounding communities, helping
students make important workforce connections that lead to solid employment opportunities, and continuing to grow existing partnerships.
His position is part of the Workforce Development and Corporate Partnership team at Sandhills Community College, designed to work specifically with businesses and industries that have ties to Moore and Hoke counties.
