Sandhills Promise

The Sandhills Promise is a last-dollar scholarship program offered by 91影视. The program provides up to two years of tuition support for eligible students.

Scholarship Details

Award Coverage

For eligible students, Sandhills Promise covers:

  • Tuition (up to the in-state rate)
  • Technology fee
  • Activity fee
  • CAPS fee

Coverage is available for up to two academic years, including summer terms.

Eligibility Period

Eligibility begins in the fall semester immediately following high school graduation and continues through the summer semester of the student鈥檚 second academic year.

Last-Dollar Provision

Sandhills Promise is a last-dollar scholarship. All federal and state grants, institutional scholarships, and outside funding must be applied first. Sandhills Promise funds are applied to any remaining eligible charges.

Additional Information

Books and course-specific fees are not covered.

Out-of-state students may receive tuition coverage up to the in-state rate. However, out-of-state students are not eligible for Sandhills Promise during any semester in which other financial aid fully covers the in-state tuition rate.

Requirements

 

Eligibility

  • Be a resident of Moore or Hoke County.
  • Be a private, public, or registered home-school equivalent high school graduate planning to attend SCC the fall semester immediately following high school graduation.
  • Successfully complete at least four dual-enrollment courses through SCC's Career and College Promise program with a GPA of 2.0 or higher and a 67% completion rate by the time of high school graduation.

Enrollment

  • Complete the  using 2024 tax information.
  • Enroll in at least one course during the Fall 2026 semester (enrolling during the Fall 2026 semester 鈥渓ocks in鈥� your eligibility for the next two years.)

Deadlines

Fall 2026 Priority Deadline: July 27, 2026. The following requirements must be met by the deadline, to ensure your eligibility.

  • A new SCC admissions application must be completed, submitted, and on record with the Student Onboarding office.
  • Official high school transcript showing your graduation date must be submitted and on record with the SCC Registrar's office.
  • Your SCC scholarship application must be completed, submitted, and on record with the SCC Scholarship Office.
  • Your 2026-27 FAFSA and all additional required financial aid paperwork must be completed, submitted, and on record with the SCC Financial Aid Office.

Don't wait until the week of the deadline to submit your FAFSA to SCC, you will not meet the deadline. 

Once enrolled, students must continuously meet the financial aid Satisfactory Academic Progress standards outlined by the state and federal government (maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA and complete at least 67% of all courses attempted at Sandhills Community College.)

If you drop, are withdrawn from, or fail all your courses during a semester in which you receive Sandhills Promise funding, you may be required to repay all or a portion of your Sandhills Promise scholarship.

Career & College Promise Pathways

As noted under the eligibility requirements, a student must successfully complete at least four dual-enrollment courses through the Career and College Promise program at SCC. For Moore County students, those courses are offered through both our Curriculum and Workforce Continuing Education CCP pathways. Students may take a combination of both Curriculum and Workforce Continuing Education CCP courses to fulfill the four-course requirement.  Please contact your High School Counselor for a list of courses you may take.  Each curriculum CCP course counts as one class for the four-course requirement.

 

Workforce Continuing Education CCP Pathways

The following is a list of WCE-CCP pathways and course-worth toward the four-course Promise requirement.

Here are the WCE pathways eligible students at Pinecrest, Union Pines, and North Moore can pursue.

  • Electrocardiogram Technician (EKG) fulfills one class toward the four-course requirement.
  • Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) fulfills one class toward the four-course requirement.
  • MSSC 鈥� Certified Production Technician fulfills two classes toward the four-course requirement.
  • NCCER Electrical Level 1 fulfills two classes toward the four-course requirement.
  • Firefighter Academy fulfills four classes towards the four-course requirement if all course components are completed.
  • Plumbing Level 1 fulfills one class toward the four-course requirement.
  • Plumbing Level 2 fulfills one class toward the four-course requirement.
  • HVAC Level 1 fulfills one class toward the four-course requirement.
  • HVAC Level 2 fulfills one class toward the four- course requirement.
  • NCCER Welding Level 1 fulfills two classes toward the four-course requirement.
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) fulfills two classes toward the four-course requirement.
  • Pharmacy Technician fulfills one class toward the four-course requirement.

Here is a WCE pathway that only eligible North Moore students can pursue.

  • Construction fulfills two classes toward the four-course requirement.

Here are the WCE pathways eligible students at The Community Learning Center at Pinckney can pursue.

  • Carpentry Core Skills fulfills two classes toward the four-course requirement.
  • Carpentry Level 1 fulfills two classes toward the four-course requirement.
  • NCCER Core Essentials and Fundamentals of Crew Leadership fulfills one class toward the four-course requirement.

Here are the WCE pathways eligible students at The Moore County Schools Connect Academy can pursue.

  • NCCER Core Essentials and Fundamentals of Crew Leadership fulfills one class toward the four-course requirement.

As noted under the eligibility requirements, a student must successfully complete at least four dual-enrollment courses through the Career and College Promise program at SCC. For Hoke County students, those courses are offered through both our Curriculum and Workforce Continuing Education CCP pathways. Students may take a combination of both Curriculum and Workforce Continuing Education CCP courses to fulfill the four-course requirement.
